Composition: March – April 1851, from Bizet’s statement of his age. All that survives is the orchestral opening, drafted on two staves, of a typical Prix de Rome cantata, before the singer comes in. If completed it was intended to be sung by Mlle Moret (or perhaps Mont), who has not been identified. It is found in the same manuscript as the two 'mélodies sans paroles', Vocalise and Barcarolle.

Autograph score: F-Pn Rés MS 422. 12-stave paper, oblong, 233 x 300 mm., 6 f. (title page, blank, music p. 1–10). The fragment is found on p. 10.

The first page of music is headed:

Dedicatee: Joséphine Laguesse (or perhaps Laguerre, Lagnesse, Lagnelle), who has not been identified.
