HOW TO USE THE CATALOGUE
In order to find information about a particular Bizet work, go to LIST OF WORKS, which provides a complete list of Bizet's works in alphabetical order. For Bizet's transcriptions, go to LIST OF TRANSCRIPTIONS, which gives the transcriptions in alphabetical order of the original composer. OTHER LISTS provides lists of the works and transcriptions in chronological order, in order of publication, and by genre. Click on any title to access the work's entry in the Catalogue. Within each entry details are given of the work's history, its internal contents, the performing forces required, manuscript and printed sources, documents and letters, performances, discography, and bibliography. Information is given in each of the following categories:
- title
- subtitle
- contents of multi-movement or sectional works
- performing forces required
- author and source of the text or libretto, with the full text of poems set as songs
- composition history
- manuscript sources
- printed editions
- dedicatee(s)
- letters of Bizet (and others) which mention the work
- documents relevant to the work's origin and history
- performances and reviews
- recordings
- bibliography
These subsections are themselves subdivided, so that, for instance, Printed Editions will be divided into full scores, vocal scores, arrangements, librettos, etc.
LISTS also gives access to lists of published collections, of authors of literary texts and librettos, of dedicatees, of opus numbers, and of publishers.
The SEARCH feature may be used to find individual works or names or dates.
