Autograph score: F-Pn MS. 420, gift of Reynaldo Hahn. 8-stave paper, 209 x 264 mm. 6 unnumbered f. (plus 2 collettes, 11 p. of music).

The first 20 bars (intro) and 16 bars on f. 4r at bar 196 are crossed out; f. 5v has been colletted over (almost nothing underneath) and f. 6v is a passage of 35 bars drafted, covered with a collette of the last 49 bars, the verso of which is a draft of the opening ten bars. Facsimile of f. 3r in Mario Bois edition, p. C.
Printed score: Mario Bois, in Œuvres pour le piano, 1984, p. 29-41, edited by Michel Poupet. This edition retains the 16-bar introduction but omits the 16-bar passage deleted on f. 4r at bar 196.

Dedicatee: Antoine-François Marmontel (1816–98), Bizet’s piano teacher at the Conservatoire. The dedication on the autograph is erased.
