Thalberg
L’Art du chant appliqué au piano

piano duet
Original work: Sigismond Thalberg (1812–71), L’Art du chant appliqué au piano, op. 70, two series of vocal works transcribed for the piano. In 1853 Heugel published the first two series, comprising twelve pieces. A simplified edition and a piano duet version were made in 1856 by Carl Czerny, who died the following year. The first set was followed in about 1862–63 by two more series comprising a further twelve pieces, and it was these that Bizet was engaged to simplify for piano solo in a similar manner and to arrange for piano duet.
