Mozart, L’oca del Cairo

opera buffa in two acts

piano solo
Original work: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–91), L’oca de Cairo, KV 422, unfinished opera buffa, composed in 1783–84, and other works. The opera was freely adapted and completed by Victor Wilder, who also wrote a new libretto. All the surviving music for L'oca del Cairo was included, with additions taken from other Mozart works. The overture and the opening quartet were from Lo sposo deluso, KV 430; no. 2 is based on the sketch ‘Che parli, che dica’ found in the autograph of L’oca del Cairo; no. 5 is an aria from Zaïde, KV 344; and no. 6 is the Terzetto, KV 480, written for Francesco Bianchi’s opera La villanella rapita in 1785.
Transcription: 1867 for publication by Heugel, following the revival of the opera at the Fantaisies-Parisiennes on 6-6-1867. It is not known who transcribed the vocal score.
