Mozart, L’oca del Cairo
opera buffa in two acts

Original work:
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–91), L’oca de
Cairo, KV 422, unfinished opera buffa,
composed in 1783–84, and other works. The
opera was freely adapted and completed by Victor
Wilder, who also wrote a new libretto. All the surviving music
for L'oca del Cairo was included, with additions taken from
other Mozart works. The overture and the opening
quartet were from Lo sposo deluso, KV 430; no. 2 is based on the sketch ‘Che parli, che
dica’ found in the autograph of L’oca del Cairo;
no. 5 is an aria from Zaïde, KV
344; and no. 6 is the Terzetto,
KV 480, written for Francesco
Bianchi’s opera La villanella rapita in 1785.
Transcription:
1867 for publication by
Heugel, following the revival of the opera at the
Fantaisies-Parisiennes on 6-6-1867. It is not known who transcribed the vocal score.
