Seconde Méditation
Gounod
Original work: Charles Gounod (1818–93), Seconde Méditation for violin and orchestra (Condé, CG 2c), itself an arrangement of the Cavatine ‘Un jour plus pur’ sung by Rodolphe (tenor) in Act III of La Nonne sanglante, opera in five acts, libretto by Scribe and Delavigne, first played at the Opéra on 18-10-1854. The arrangement has an eight-bar extension at the end.
