Original work: Charles Gounod (1818–93), Mireille , opera in five acts, libretto by Michel Carré after Frédéric Mistral, first played at the Théâtre-Lyrique on 19-3-1864. ‘Heureux petit berger’ is sung by Mireille near the beginning of Act IV (in the five-act version).
Transcription: The date and purpose of the transcription are not known. It is possible that Bizet was responsible for the piano solo version of the complete opera, published by Choudens.
