Copynotes: | The books are in fair condition, with some discolouration to pages due to age. The bindings are 18th century, the boards covered in polished calf leather, slightly sprinkled. The spines have a red morocco (goat leather) title label and a green morocco volume number.
In each case, the height of the binding is 136mm and the page height is 133mm.
All six volumes contain the bookplate of Bloomfield and also the bookplate of a previous owner, C.E. Bagge, M.D. These bookplates are on the endpapers of each book. On the following page there is a Brighton Reference Library label, with handwritten Stock Number (i.e. Accession No.) and Class no. (i.e. Dewey No.) On the facing page is stamped the name of the previous owner and date: C.E. Bagge 1772 (in black ink). The endpaper at the rear of the book has another Brighton Reference Library label.
All six volumes contain faint numbers handwritten in pencil in the endpapers, written by Bloomfield, which include the price paid by Bloomfield.
Additionally, Vol. 1 contains this pencil note written by Bloomfield: ‘Scarce and fine edition’.
