Published Location: Edinburgh: at the Appollo Press
Published date: 1778
Copynotes: Vol. 1-2 only. This volume is no longer in it's original binding. It is a library style case binding with spine tooling which our accession book indicates was undertaken in January 1895. The text block seems to be in good shape, some soiling of the edges, although it was too tightly rebound and the joints are loose. Someone tried to hold the back cover to the text block with adhesive tape. The two plates that precede the title page have sustained minor damage whereas the plate that precedes volume two is intact.
Editionnotes: In: 'The poets of Great Britain complete from Chaucer to Churchill;, Bell's edition, London, printed for John Bell'. With engraved collective titlepages dated 1778. Each volume has an additional letterpress titlepage. Vols. 3-8 are dated 1788.
