On the title page, the 'c' of Spencer has been corrected to 's' in pencil. Bound in contemporary calf on paste boards, with five raised bands edged with gold on the spine; brown leather spine label ('Pamphlets') tooled in gold in second compartment; vol. no. (2) stamped in third compartment (originally stamped as '1'); remaining compartments stamped with a floral motif; all board edges tooled in blind. Condition notes: Upper joint split at tail end; lacks tailcap; headcap split and coming away; corners rubbed and bending inwards; both boards heavily rubbed, especially in the centre and at the edges; tail board edge of upper board heavily rubbed so that calf has split.
