Copynotes: Correspondence of 04/30/2018: Attached to the back inside cover is an ms. document inscribed ‘Seventeen leaves, containing nineteen pages of ms. notes on Spenser’s Faerie Queene; by Samuel Paterson’. Bound between pasteboards covered in blue paper with a paper label on the spine bearing the title, author and date. Condition: Tears, creases and staining mainly to first and last few pages and binding slightly stained. Cover stained and discoloured on front and back. Binding spilt down gutter between pages 14 and 15 (Faerie Queene, 1st book). Correspondence of 6/8/10: Copy at 86.V.7 is as follows and in the following order: Title-page 1611 First books (v.1-3) on B3 has Young Knight Second part (bks 4-6) dated 1613 Shepheards Caendar t.p. 1611 Mother Hubbard's tale 1613 Colin Clouts come home againe t.p. immediatelyfollowed by the dedication to Sir Walter Raleigh, on which there is no date and no identifying factor. [I conjecture that this is the first printing of the Letter to Raleigh, since this copy seems to fall in Johnson's Group III--NS 6/8/10]. This is followed by poems, all of which have dropped head titles and no t.p.s or dates.
