Copynotes: The binding of this volume appears to be a mixture from two different time periods. The upper and lower covers are brown leather with blind-stamped designs. The spine is possibly of a later vintage and has gold-stamped ornamentation. The binding is cracked and chipped.
Editionnotes: Editorship attributed probably erroneously to Dryden. Cf. ESTC. Signatures: leaf (t.-p.) unsigned. A-Z¹. Aa-Zz¹. Aaa-Zzz⁴. Aaaa-Iiii⁴ (Aaaa lettered Aaa). Kkkk¹. Aaaaa Ccccc⁴. Most of the pieces have special title-pages dated 1678; Prosopopoia and The shepherds calendar have also separate paging. A catalogue of books printed for Jonathan Edwin (1 leaf) after p. 258. "Brittain's Ida", first ascribed to Spenser in 1628 by Thomas Walkley, is now generally attributed to Phineas Fletcher. Includes Theodore Bathurst's translation of The shepheardes calendar. Title page printed in red and black. Text continuous despite numerous errors in pagination.
