Complaints of William Bird of a plea of
for that the said William Bird on the first day
of September in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred
and thirty seven with five and
arm at St. Louis in the County of St. Louis made
an afault, upon the said Phebe Subby
to writ at the County aforesaid and then and there
imprisoned the said Phebe Subby and and
detained per in person then without any reasonable
or probable cause whatever for a long space of time
to writ for the space of mouth then next following
contrary to the hours of this state and against
thewill of the said, Phebe Subby and the
Phebe even that before and at the time
she was and state is a per person and that the
said William Bird held and still holds
her in slavery and acts wrong to the said
Phebe Subby this and then and against
the place of this state and the damage
of the said Phebe Subby one thousand
dollars and arms his
