The command you that if Augustus Chouteau
John P Cabanne , & Antoine Chissie, trading and doing,
bussiness, under the name style and firm, of Chouteau
Cabanne , & company shall make you secure
you came to be and delivered to the said
Chouteau Cabbane, and Company two, packs of beaver,
skins, the property of them the said Chouteau Cabanne ,
and Company which said two packs of beaver skins, are
detaind by William E Bain, & Michel against
and pledges And that you summons, the said
William E Bain, & Michel Arsens, if they may be
found within your bailiwick, that they be and appear
before the Judges of our, Court of common, pleas
to be holden at the town of St Louis within & for the county
of St Louis on the fourth monday in June next then &
there to answer unto Chouteau Cabanne , & company
of a plea wherefore the said Bain, & Arsens, took two
packs of beaver skins the property of the said Chouteau
Cabanne, & Company and the said two packs of beaver
skins detain, against and pledges to the
Damage of the said Chouteau Cabanne , & company
of five hundred dollars and have then there this writ

pany, Complain, of William E Bain, & Michel
Arsens, wherefore they took two packs, of beaver skins
the property of them the plaintiffs and detained,
them and pledges and thereupon,
the said Augustus , Chouteau John P Cabanne ,
& Antoine Chenie, plaintiffs by William C.
Carr , their attorney complain for that where
as the said William E Bain, & Michel Arsens, the defendants on the twenty eighth
day of may eighteen hundred fourteen
at the town, of St Louis in the County afore
said took two certain packs of beaver, fur
or skins, containing three hundred, skins
of the value of five hundred dollars the
property of them the plaintiffs, and unjustly,
detained them against sureties & pledges,
untill, the sheriff of the said county of St Louis
made deliverence, thereof to the plaintiffs say
they are damaged five hundred dollars,
therefore they sue,

The Condition of the above obligation
is such, that of the above named
August Chouteau , shall will and truly,
Suit of by them
against William E Bain, and Michel Arsens, in the Court
of Common Pleas, for the County of
Saint Louis , to final Judgement
and pay all cost, deceasing from
said Suit, if Judgment should,
go against them as well as return,
the following property, by them
to Lourge & Skins one
Small pelts, and thirty three
beaver, Skins in the same goods
that they Recorded
then this obligations to be void,
to remain in full
force and virtue in Law
