William Clark by his attorney
complains of William Christman of a plea of
trespass on the case for that whereas the said
William on the Eighteenth day of June in the
year one thousand eight hundred and twen
ty five at the County aforesaid made his
certain promissory note in writing & now here to the Court shown bearing
date the day and year aforesaid and thereby
then and there promised ten days after the date
thereof to pay to the said William or order
the sum of one hundred dollars for value
received by means whereof and by force
of the statutes in such case made and
provided the said William Then and therebecameliable
to pay to the said William the said of
money in said note specified according to
the tenor and effect thereof when the same
became due and payable and being so lia
ble he the said William in consideration there
of afterwards to wit on the day and year
last aforesaid at the County aforesaid undertook
and then and there faithfully promised
the said William to pay him the said sum
of money in said note specified according to the tenor and effect thereof when the same
became due and payable - Nevertheless al
though the said sum of money in said note
specified hath according to the tenor and ef
efect of said note been long since due and
payable yet the said William although often
requested hath not as yet paid the said
sum of money in said note specified or any
part thereof to the said Wiliam but the
said William to do the same hath heretowhol
ly neglected and refused and still doth ne
glect and refuse to the damage of the said
William of three hundred dollars and then
fore he brings his suit &c

Know all men by these presents that I Arthur
L . Magenis am held and firmly bound unto
William Christman in the sum of one hundred
dollars for the payment of which I do bind
myself my Heirs Executors and Administrators firm
ly by these presents - The condition of the above
obligation is such that if William Clark
plaintiff in the within declaration
and truly pay all costs that may be adjudged
against accrue in the suit now by him commenced
against said Christman then this
obligation to be void otherwise to remain

in full force. In testimoney whereof witness
my hand and seal this 6th day of July

Greeting

We Command you to Summon William C. Christman
that he be and appear before the Judge of our Circuit Court
at the next Term thereof to be held at the City of S Louis
within and for the County of S Louis on the fourth Monday
in July instant then and there to answer unto Williams
Clark of a plea of trespass on the case to the damage
of said plaintiff of their hundred Dollars and have you
then there this writ
