St.. Michel for this, that the said
Francois , or the
District aforesaid, or the thirteenth day of July, in the
, one thousand eight hundred and
nine, by his
certain promissary note of that date by him
with his own
proper hand writing or mark subscribed, promised the
plaintiff as follows "on Demand & promised to
pay
"to Gen William Clark agent for the Missouri Fur
"company or
order the just sum of the
" Dollars ad fifty cash for value
received

Yet the said Defendant though
often requested hath ever refused and
still refusse,
some sum of money to the plaintiff to pay. to his
