William Clark complains of Francois
St.. Michel for this, that the said Francois , or the
District aforesaid, or the thirteenth day of July, in the
, one thousand eight hundred and nine, by his
certain promissary note of that date by him with his own
proper hand writing or mark subscribed, promised the
plaintiff as follows "on Demand & promised to pay
"to Gen William Clark agent for the Missouri Fur
"company or order the just sum of the
" Dollars ad fifty cash for value received

often requested hath ever refused and still refusse,

We command you to take Francies St. Michel if he may be
found within your Bailiwick and him safely keep so that you may have his
body before the judges of our Court of Common Pleas to be holden at the town of
Saint Louis in & for the District of Saint Louis on the first Monday of november
next then there to answer unto William Clark for the use of the Missouri Fur
Company of a plea of Trespass on the Case to the Damage of the said William ,
the sum of three hundred Dollars and have you then there this writ.
